Honoring Eric Richards

Our hearts are heavy as the five year mark of Eric’s leaving us has recently passed.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. I worry that the boys won’t hear the wonderful stories about him that need to be told.

What I need from all of you is the STORIES! So if you have a good one that you want in the book, I am most grateful. And Dawn at Modern Heirloom Books is going to be coordinating everything and putting the book together—so all you have to do is follow the directions below to submit your tribute!

I certainly appreciate the help so the boys can look back and remember their Dad as the wonderful, crazy, funny, intense man he was.

I am going to attempt to keep this a secret from the boys, so please don’t mention it.

How to send your tribute:

Please fill out the form below with your remembrance for inclusion in the book.

A few tips:

Be specific. Share stories and details and moments in time to illustrate WHY you loved him (rather than saying “I loved him so much.”
Don’t be afraid to be funny. Eric had a great sense of humor and would relish our sharing memories of him that make us smile, even laugh.
Frame your tribute as a letter, if you like. Our memories are held dear by each of us, and now we get to share them with Eric’s sons—so if writing a letter directly to them works for you, go for it!
Write from the heart. Your words will resonate most if you write them how you would speak (in other words, forget about sounding formal and worrying about “writerly“ things—just speak from the heart).
