Nominate someone to receive a personal history book, free of charge.
The Legacy Fund was created to ensure that stories of resilience—specifically those of veterans and single parents—are honored and preserved for generations to come. You may nominate yourself or someone you know whose story deserves to be told in a Modern Heirloom Book.
Self-nominations are warmly encouraged.
Nominations are reviewed by a small advisory committee, including the founder of Modern Heirloom Books and selected creatives and family historians who understand the fund’s mission. Recipients will be notified personally once funding for their project has been confirmed. Because the fund can support only a limited number of books each year, nominations may be held for future consideration as funding grows.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Relevance to The Legacy Fund’s Mission:
The nominee identifies as a veteran or a single parent.
Story Significance:
The individual’s life reflects resilience, service, love, or sacrifice in a way that will inspire others.
Urgency:
Factors such as age, health, or family circumstances may make it especially important to preserve their story soon.
Financial Need:
The nominee would not otherwise be able to commission a Modern Heirloom Book.
Diversity of Stories:
We strive to represent a range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives within each year’s selections.
Contact information for the nominee will be used only if their story is selected for The Legacy Fund, so that we may reach out directly to invite their participation. Their information will remain confidential and will never be shared or used for any other purpose.
